Gigstarter was founded in 2012. We saw a mismatch between supply and demand in the live music industry. Most bands, ensembles, DJs and solo-artists would love to perform more often; and there are plenty of people who seek for live music but have no idea where to start looking when it comes to booking a musician. With this thesis our free-to-use platform got launched. Check out how it works:

In the meantime, we are the fastest growing community of musicians in Europe. Gigstarter brings together three parties: musicians, fans and venues. Venues in the broadest sense of the word since anyone can book a musician and offer a stage. We started in Amsterdam and in 2016 we started introducing our concept in the rest of Europe.

Transparency is key

Musicians want to manage themselves properly. And someone who wants to book a musician would like to know what the possibilities are. These two commandments get a place and are brought together on our platform. By offering this service Gigstarter boost the live music industry and musicians get the well-deserved chance to live from their passion. As a result, transparency is generated for all stakeholders.

Gigstarter creates transparency by presenting three elements:

• Search results: a clear overview of musicians in any genre;
• Profiles: insight into the atmosphere and music of specific musicians;
• Booking Process: get in touch with musicians and make a reservation.

Gigstarter offers convenience to both booker and musician. Anyone can request a quote without any obligation. And if you want to make a booking this follows smoothly. You are in direct contact with the musician and are guided through the entire booking-process so that all necessary on-site elements are checked and all arrangements are made without any mistakes. We are always ready to jump in where and when necessary.

For musicians we make arranging gigs easy. First, you get matched. Then a fair deal can be made. You decide how the agreement looks like and how and when you get paid. Neither you nor the booker pay any booking fees. You’re in control.

Gigstarter not only facilitates the right match. Our system is fully automated. This makes it possible for us to work with a small team. This way things can be kept on a personal level. With this method we can keep overhead costs low and we can keep our basic services free of charge. This allows us to pursue our goal of making live music accessible to everyone, everywhere.
